On March 17, Adidas took over the West Bund Dome in Shanghai to unveil its latest innovation in race-day footwear—the ADIZERO 0 Series.
The event explored the record-breaking journey of the ADIZERO lineup, culminating in the debut of the ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 4. More than just a product showcase, the event offered interactive experiences for the Chinese running community, pushing the boundaries of speed and technology.
Ahead of the launch, Adidas invited runners to contribute their old ADIZERO shoes via social media, creating a striking installation of 600+ pairs at the event. This visual tribute to the evolution of ADIZERO told a compelling story, underscoring the brand’s deep ties with China’s running culture. As night fell, 1,000+ drones illuminated the sky, delivering a breathtaking light show.

The launch saw Adidas executives—including Alberto Uncini Manganelli, Wu Jingxi, and Sam Truax—take the stage alongside long-distance legend Haile Gebrselassie, marathoner Li Dan, and track star Xu Shuangshuang.

The star of the show was the ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 4. Sam Truax introduced six prototype stages, breaking down the cutting-edge updates, including an ENERGYRODS 2.0 carbon system, LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam, a LIGHTLOCK fit system, and a refined lightweight upper. Truax emphasized that each upgrade is athlete-driven, designed based on elite feedback and lab testing.

Since its 2020 launch, the ADIZERO ADIOS PRO has become the winningest racing shoe in World Marathon Majors history. The ADIZERO 0 Series alone has set seven world records in 2024.
Alberto Uncini Manganelli stated: “This success is no accident—it’s the result of 20 years of relentless innovation. Adidas is committed to pushing boundaries, delivering cutting-edge performance gear, and giving athletes the tools they need to succeed.”
Wu Jingxi added: “The ADIZERO ADIOS PRO series reshaped the high-stack carbon plate era. With the launch of the ADIOS PRO EVO 1 in 2023, we cemented our dominance in elite racing.”
Haile Gebrselassie, who has shattered 27 world records, shared his decades-long journey with Adidas, saying: “Beyond my team, my family, and my manager, Adidas has played a huge role in my career—I owe them my success.”
The event also saw Li Dan and Xu Shuangshuang reflecting on their career highs and lows, with Li discussing her resilience through setbacks and Xu setting her sights on the next chapter post-Olympics.
Adding to the thrill, four runners raced against Gebrselassie’s 800m PB, while 50+ runners joined a group run, led by Gebrselassie, from the venue to Adidas’ Runbase.

To immerse attendees in the ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 4 experience, Adidas created an interactive zone, featuring product demos, a try-on wall, and robotic displays, while a customization workshop allowed runners to personalize their shoes, deepening their connection with the brand.
