On September 9, Hermès unveiled its Rouge Brillant Silky lipstick line—an elegant new chapter in the Maison’s makeup story—with a whimsical launch event held at Shanghai’s historic Old Municipal Government Building.
Inspired by Hermès’ iconic silk heritage, the collection features luminous, sheer-textured lipsticks designed for buildable color and layered looks. With three limited-edition hues and fourteen vivid shades—including reimagined classics like Rouge Casaque and Rouge Amazone—the range was designed to adapt to every mood and moment.
Guests were welcomed with a unique ritual: a tarot reader presented each attendee with a lipstick “reading,” offering a personalized shade card as their symbolic entry to the second-floor experience space.
Upstairs, Hermès transformed the venue into a surreal lipstick dreamscape. As the music began, three ballerinas—each representing one of the exclusive shades—performed expressive dances that embodied the joy, emotion, and layering possibilities behind the new Rouge Brillant Silky collection.
Formulated with a blend of nourishing botanicals, the lipsticks are designed to treat lips like skin—with raspberry leaf extract for hydration, sesame seed for smoothness, and Abyssinian oil and mulberry bark for lasting care. Every swipe is as weightless and sensorial as silk brushing the skin.
Designed by Hermès Beauty’s creative lead Pierre Hardy, the lipstick cases are miniature design pieces in themselves—featuring lacquered, brushed, and polished metallic surfaces in minimalist tones of black, white, and rose gold. A subtle ex libris engraving on the cap adds a signature Hermès touch. The collection continues Hermès’ refillable commitment and is packaged in the brand’s iconic orange box and red canvas pouch.
