New York-based fashion label Steve Madden has opened a vibrant pop-up store in Beijing’s Taikoo Li Sanlitun, bringing its latest footwear and accessories collections to one of China’s trendiest retail hubs. On April 11, the brand hosted a media preview of its upcoming early fall collection at the space.
Rooted in a rebellious spirit, Steve Madden has long been known for translating New York’s gritty street style into accessible, everyday fashion. This pop-up, themed “Never Miss A Beat,” draws on youth-driven cultural touchstones—pop music, soft rock, vintage Americana, street style, and more—to create a space where personal expression takes center stage.

The store’s design leans heavily into raw industrial aesthetics: gypsum walls, exposed scaffolding, and wire mesh structures dominate the space. Music is a subtle yet strong motif, from pyramid-shaped acoustic panels reminiscent of a recording studio to DIY-style speaker props. Neon signage and a wire-frame DJ booth transform the setting into a collision of sound, style, and subculture.

Inside, the brand’s 2025 early fall collection makes its debut with an unapologetically experimental approach. The “Modern Manifesto” series blends bold materials and silhouettes: unisex loafers are punctuated with metallic logo accents, while heels balance feminine bow details with fierce leopard prints. Tassels add a touch of Bohemian movement, and cowboy-inspired wide boots decorated with retro Western motifs nod to Americana nostalgia. A range of high-heeled boots in rich seasonal hues—snow white, midnight black, and burgundy—adds both polish and warmth to fall wardrobes.

The summer line offers a lighter, romantic mood. Pastel shades like mint, peach, and cream set the tone, with raffia sandals evoking breezy moments on the French Riviera. The brand’s signature chunky soles return in denim with a distressed finish, while sparkling rhinestones, delicate pearls, and girlish bows add contrast to more urban silhouettes. A vintage sportswear capsule updates classic styles in punchy new colors.
The pop-up will run through May 31. Steve Madden will also open a new concept store at HKRI Taikoo Hui in Shanghai later this month.
