On May 27, Omani royal fragrance house AMOUAGE marked a new milestone in China with the grand opening of its first flagship store in the Asia-Pacific region, located in the culturally rich Zhangyuan area of Shanghai. Named “The Sillage,” the store also served as the occasion to debut AMOUAGE’s official Chinese name: “阿漠史.”
As the only marine-themed AMOUAGE store globally, The Sillage is more than a retail space—it’s a sensory voyage. Conceived by Chief Creative Officer Renaud Salmon and executed with Parisian design firm Héroïne, the space reimagines Oman’s maritime history and the fabled journeys of Sinbad the Sailor through an immersive underwater fantasy that blends architecture, storytelling, and scent.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted by towering coral sculptures flanking the entrance. A six-meter-long traditional Omani sailing ship—suspended mid-air under a domed ceiling—anchors the space, symbolizing the historical spice and frankincense routes that once linked Oman to China via the Indian Ocean.
Inside, the design continues the oceanic narrative: coral-encrusted stone tables, sand-toned terrazzo flooring, aquatic light projections, and wave-mimicking metallic panels turn the boutique into a submerged dreamscape. It’s a space that fuses artistry with craftsmanship, reflecting the brand’s heritage and forward-thinking creativity.
The store is also designed for deeper customer engagement. Beyond product displays, it offers private areas for bespoke consultations and lounge-style seating for relaxed discovery. Interactive installations allow visitors to explore the world of AMOUAGE fragrances in a way that is tactile, emotional, and uniquely memorable.
