BlancpainXSwatch Collaboration Celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the iconic "Fifty Fathoms" series, Blancpain has partnered with Swatch to create five innovative plant-based ceramic watches.

These five non-limited edition collaborative watches feature five vibrant colors (colors that have never been used in the original Fifty Fathoms watches) and are crafted using innovative plant-based ceramic. This unique patented material is a blend of two-thirds ceramic and one-third biologically sourced materials from castor oil.

While their choice of colors clearly signifies that these are not traditional Blancpain watches, all fans and enthusiasts can immediately recognize many of the classic Fifty Fathoms watch features and characteristics, such as the iconic case design, the unidirectional rotating bezel for measuring dive duration, and the anti-magnetic automatic movement – the SISTEM51 movement used in this collaboration also features the Nivachron™ anti-magnetic hairspring. Each watch's dial and crown are engraved with the BlancpainXSwatch collaborative logo.

For Blancpain's President and CEO, Marc A. Hayek, this collaboration holds significant symbolism, "Without Swatch, the Swiss watchmaking industry could not have survived and thrived as beautifully as it has. This collection is our pride. Swatch has reinterpreted its classic watches in its own way, with remarkable results. As a diving enthusiast, I greatly appreciate the attention to detail in this collection and the many nods to the Fifty Fathoms. The watch is water-resistant up to 91 meters, which is precisely equivalent to 50 fathoms, a special highlight."

Each of the five watches represents one of Earth's five major oceans, emphasizing Blancpain's commitment to ocean conservation. According to Marc A. Hayek, over the years, Blancpain, through its "Blancpain Ocean Commitment" program, has jointly funded more than 20 major scientific expeditions and helped double the global marine protected area.

The five watches have been available for purchase in selected Swatch boutiques worldwide since September 9th.
