On May 9, Danish footwear and lifestyle brand ECCO unveiled its newly renovated ACTIVE LIFESTYLE flagship on Shanghai’s Huaihai Middle Road, spotlighting a brand vision that balances Scandinavian minimalism with the dynamism of city living.
Designed with natural wood and industrial materials, the new store layout is organized around three experience zones—Outdoor, Training, and Golf—signaling ECCO’s evolution from a heritage footwear label to a full-category performance lifestyle brand. The space aims to immerse consumers in a nature-inspired approach to movement and well-being.
The opening event featured an immersive performance that blurred the lines between art and function. Dancers used expressive movement to convey the relationship between humans and nature, followed by a close-up runway showcase of ECCO’s new capsule collaboration with White Mountaineering, merging alpine aesthetics with modern streetwear codes. The arrival of brand ambassador Johnny Huang Jingyu added extra star power to the moment.
In conjunction with the flagship reopening, ECCO also activated ECCO MARKET, a playful, sports-themed pop-up at TX Huaihai. Designed to encourage spontaneous fitness, the interactive space featured everything from treadmills to ping pong tables and punching bags—where Johnny Huang dropped in for a hands-on experience.
Later in the day, a live design conversation between Tæstensen and Aizawa offered guests insight into the collaborative process, with both creatives exploring how the collection bridges urban lifestyle with outdoor freedom—redefining what it means to live actively in today’s hybrid environments.
