On March 4, Henkel, the parent company of Schwarzkopf and SYOSS, announced the successful acquisition of Suzhou Boke Biotechnology Co., Ltd.. This move reinforces Henkel's commitment to expanding its local manufacturing capabilities in China, ensuring long-term business growth and fostering sustainable innovation in this key market.
Suzhou Boke, a trusted production partner of Henkel, specializes in personal care manufacturing. Strategically located in the Taicang Port Economic and Technological Development Zone, a major logistics hub along the Yangtze River, the facility has been instrumental in strengthening Henkel's local supply chain infrastructure.
With advanced digital production systems and a Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Suzhou Boke can efficiently meet diverse product demands. Following the acquisition, the facility will become an exclusive Henkel production site, initially focusing on hair care products, with future expansion plans in place.
Frank Labahn, Head of Supply Chain and Manufacturing Operations Asia, commented: "This acquisition is a strategic step in enhancing our regional operations and supply chain capabilities. China is a key pillar in our global production network, and this investment aligns seamlessly with our localization strategy. By strengthening our local manufacturing, we can better respond to market demands with greater speed and efficiency, reinforcing Henkel's position in China's consumer market."
Patrick Zhong, Vice President of Henkel Consumer Brands Greater China, added: "Following our successful acquisition of VS Sassoon last year and our continued investment in R&D, integrating this new production site further strengthens our ability to serve Chinese consumers. This move not only enhances our market presence but also accelerates the development of tailored innovations for China. We are committed to delivering products that resonate with local preferences and lifestyles, and this acquisition will provide strong operational support for sustainable growth while further solidifying Henkel's leadership in China's consumer goods industry."
In parallel with the acquisition, Henkel has signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with the Taicang Port Administrative Committee to deepen collaboration. Leveraging Taicang Port's logistical advantages, supportive business environment, and strong talent pool, this partnership will support the planned expansion of the Suzhou Boke production facility.
